Population density change estimation in Jaipur city (2008-2013)
GIS is used to map population of Jaipur city. Zone wise GIS data have been created to prepare population map. This map can be used to show the change in population as well as for further GIS based analysis such as water supply demand, public transportation demand and many more policy planning and monitoring for specific area.
There are many GIS software including open source and paid available for GIS database creation and analysis. GIS database– spatial and non-spatial database created in GIS environment for this analysis.
This population analysis start with population data collection. Population data can be collected at different levels such as state level, district level, ward level and also at village level.
Initially ward wise census data collected for Jaipur city and different GIS layers created such as ward boundary, zone wise boundary etc. Attribute information assigned to these GIS layers.
Urban population analysis using GIS
GIS tools are used to create population database at zone level, in this population data collected and used as non-spatial data in geo- spatial layer of zones of Jaipur. These population data collected for three different periods like 2008, 2011 and 2013.
The compounded exponential growth model was used GIS to estimate the population for the year 2008 and 2013 for each Jaipur Municipal Corporation zone (JMC).
These population data can be used to indicate the change in population in three different periods as well as to show population density. In the below figure, it is analyzed as distribution of population in different zones in three different periods.

It's really helpful.
